The Content Repurposing Prompt Library

Free download

Every long-form piece you create is a content goldmine you're probably leaving mostly unmined. A 2,000-word article contains a newsletter, a LinkedIn post, a Twitter thread, three Instagram captions, a short-form video script, and a podcast talking points doc — if you know how to extract them. These prompts do the extraction for you.

How to Use This Library

Each prompt below is designed to be used with your preferred AI tool (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar). Before running any prompt, paste in your source content and add a brief voice note: 2–3 sentences describing your tone and any specific things to avoid. This takes 30 seconds and significantly improves output quality. Run the prompt, review the output, edit for voice, publish. The goal is to get to a publishable draft in under 10 minutes per format.

Newsletter Prompt

Prompt: 'Here is a [article/post/essay] I wrote: [paste content]. Write a newsletter version of this piece that: opens with a personal hook or observation (2–3 sentences), summarizes the core insight in plain language, pulls out the 3 most actionable takeaways as a short bulleted list, and closes with a single question for the reader to reflect on. Keep the total length under 400 words. Match the tone of the original piece.' Use this for: weekly newsletters, email sequences, subscriber updates.

LinkedIn Post Prompt

Prompt: 'Here is a [article/post/essay] I wrote: [paste content]. Write a LinkedIn post based on this piece that: opens with a bold, specific claim or counterintuitive observation (no 'I' as the first word), develops the idea in 3–5 short paragraphs (2–3 sentences each), uses line breaks between paragraphs for readability, ends with a question or call to reflection, and stays under 1,300 characters. Do not use hashtags. Match the tone of the original.' Use this for: thought leadership posts, professional updates, industry commentary.

Twitter/X Thread Prompt

Prompt: 'Here is a [article/post/essay] I wrote: [paste content]. Write a Twitter/X thread based on this piece. The thread should: open with a hook tweet that makes a bold claim or promises a specific insight, develop the idea across 6–10 tweets (each under 280 characters), use numbered tweets (1/, 2/, etc.), end with a summary tweet and a link placeholder, and avoid filler phrases like 'Let me explain' or 'Here's the thing.' Match the tone of the original.' Use this for: building audience, driving traffic, establishing expertise.

Instagram Caption Prompts

Prompt (educational): 'From this piece [paste content], write an Instagram caption that teaches one specific insight. Open with a hook line, explain the insight in 3–4 short sentences, and end with a question. Under 150 words. No hashtags in the caption body.' Prompt (story-driven): 'From this piece [paste content], write an Instagram caption that opens with a brief personal moment or observation, connects it to the core idea of the piece, and ends with a takeaway. Under 120 words.' Use these for: educational content, brand building, community engagement.

Short-Form Video Script Prompt

Prompt: 'Here is a [article/post/essay] I wrote: [paste content]. Write a 60-second video script based on the core idea of this piece. Structure it as: Hook (0–5 seconds): one sentence that stops the scroll. Problem (5–15 seconds): the tension or question the video addresses. Insight (15–45 seconds): the core idea, explained simply. Payoff (45–60 seconds): the takeaway and a call to action. Write it as spoken word — short sentences, no jargon, natural rhythm.' Use this for: Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn video.

Key Takeaways

  • 1Add a 2–3 sentence voice note before every prompt to significantly improve output quality
  • 2The newsletter prompt is the highest-leverage starting point — run every piece through it
  • 3Edit every output for voice before publishing — these are drafts, not finished content
  • 4Build your own prompt library by saving and refining the prompts that work best for you
